One-to-One laptops

There are many studies, surveys, and interviews that have been done that reflect the practice of one-to-one laptop computing program in the classrooms. The majority of the studies evidence proves that the laptop computer program has improved student’s computer skills that have enhanced access to educational resources. The one-to-one laptop has improved students motivation and interest in school because it makes schoolwork more interesting to the students. The laptop program has had positive impacts for all students including at-risk or even low achieving students.
Although there are a few disadvantages of allowing each student to have their individual laptop. A few disadvantages may include distractions in the classroom and inappropriate laptop usage. I believe these are a few things the teacher should be aware of in the classroom but should not limit the usage of a laptop from the students.
I believe computers benefit the students and teachers in the classroom. It is a great opportunity for the students to enhance their skills, motivation, confidence, and obtain a positive impact overall. Even though there are a few drawbacks you have to look at the positive outcome from the students.

Computers In The Classroom

I am currently taking the class Educational Technology and Design for the Elementary Education Program at UNI. It has broadened my perspective of technology in the classroom using many different programs that I have not used before. I am aware of the rapid growth in technology in today’s society but not as aware of how we will teach future students. Students have to learn technology; therefore, the teachers have to know how to teach technology.
I believe the use of computers in the classroom has benefited students, teachers, and parents. Computers have improved student’s motivation and technical skills. It gives students the confidence in learning new things. I also believe it gives students the opportunity to grow and stay up with the current technology as they complete complex task and projects.
Technology is very important for students at all ages to learn and to keep up-to-date with technology and I am very excited to teach students technology in the future!
Computers will increase student's development and skills. Check out this article to see how computers Boost Academic Achievement.

eBooks or Textbooks?

Technology continues!!! A typewriter to a computer; house phone to cell phone; now a textbook to an eBook? Ebooks are an electronic version of a printed book. I believe they are very convenient and accessible as they can translate into another language, easy for note taking, and bookmarking, and also an organizer all in one!! Also the eBooks save the school money from out-dated textbooks and also the expense of paper. One great thing I believe is that it encourages students learning in reading because of the interaction with technology. It makes learning more fun like playing a video game.

Check out eBooks online to find the right one for you!

Interactive Whiteboards

Interactive Whiteboards!!! The chalk boards and white erase boards have progressed even further.  Interactive whiteboards can be used in any grade level for teaching.  It is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector.  The projector then projects the computers desktop onto the whiteboards surface where teachers and even students can control the computer by a pen, finger, or other gadgets.  The interactive whiteboard is a very effective instructional strategy for teachers and students.  It allows teachers to record and save their lessons, post material again if a student missed some information, shows maps, graphs, and charts easily, and instantly forms ideas and presentations. Interactive boards not only help the teachers with student learning, but also provide new ways to teach lessons. For more information and ideas you can check the following link below.
